While the rest of the Blogosphere is on its 3rd day into iPhone iMania iRedux, I’d like to take a little time to take a look at that oh so interesting TypePad app…the one I got PO’ed about during WWDC. I didn’t get a chance to actually use the App, because contrary to what I assumed, It really only supports TypePad blogs. After the initial disappointment in that revelation, I figured I could use it for posting on PalmAddicts, since I had a guest account with TypePad compliments of Sam, the head of the site.
Nope. Not going to happen. I type in my username, Denied. Type in my email address, denied. Typed SAME email onto Typepad’s actual site, got in quickly. Honestly, what is the point of having a Typepad blog if only full authors can use it?
That brings me to another point: How come Typepad doesn’t have a free blog? Wordpress has Wordpress.com, Blogger has BlogSpot, how come TypePad has absolutely nothing? It’s not like they’re unfamiliar with the concept: Vox is free, and LiveJournal was free (still is) when Six Apart owned it. How come there isn’t a free version of Typepad?
I would be in full support of a free TypePad account that got you your own blog, even if it involved the use of ads in your blog, and had the limitations that WP.com has for its blogs. Why doesn’t Six Apart do it? Can someone tell me?
I guess I’m stuck until the WP blogging app comes out for the iPhone. I must say, though I miss NemusSync, I don’t regret upgrading to 2.0 firmware…hell, I may not even Jailbreak the iTouch once the method comes out.
