Last Sunday, I decided to join Talkshoe. I went and joined the first voice/chat thing that I saw that I liked, which happened to be The Unofficial Apple Weblog’s Live podcast. From the moment I activated the online chat (Not sure whether it’s Java or Flash) I couldn’t hear a thing. The sound kept saying “Buffering Audio.” I ended up having to link the stream to iTunes, but because I had to do that, I couldn’t request to speak.
Yeah, it was cool to be witness to a live recording of a TUAW podcast, but if the point of using TalkShoe is interactivity with other users, it certainly isn’t up to snuff. Yes, I know that Talkshoe is beta, but honestly, it’s not really an excuse. Several people in the chat suggested Skypecasts and other VOIP conferencing tools, TUAW should use them until Talkshoe gets its head…or rather its ears on straight.
It’s an innovative program, but I can’t use it if it won’t let me do what it says it would let me do. That is, it says chat with voice, but I can’t use my voice. It’s a load of crap, and it needs to get fixed.
