Let me preface this by saying that in the blogosphere, I do not affiliate myself with Democrat or Republican. However, I do find it interesting that Youtube is hosting a contest, where the winner gets a free pass to the GOP National Convention in St. Paul, MN (Why the RNC will be held in a vastly liberal state is beyond me.) The Youtube Blog explains:
It may be three months away, but the GOP has been planning the Republican National Convention for some time — and YouTube is a key part of their strategy. The Party plans to use the site to help you to get involved in the action, and they’re starting today with their American Neighbor contest.
So essentially, you, American Citizen, are to upload a video by June 26 of “Someone from your community who goes “above and beyond the call of duty.” The winner, picked by the vast majority (gotta use that pun) and the person who got profiled will get to go to the RNC.
One wonders, though…Why isn’t the Democratic Party doing something? Obviously, they need to counteract this. The Republicans have something up their sleeve, and I want to find out what it is. It would seem that the Republicans are using social media better then the democrats, as they used it to pick the name of their new blog, the Grand Old Blog. Yeah, creative naming scheme.
I bring this up because this is what my new blog will essentially involve. More info on that Monday.
