Things have gotten a little less hectic in my life, and I think I’m ready to restart blogging again!

I’m still having a bit of a difficult time in grad school, but I’m still passing, and I’m doing a lot better then last semester…so’s everyone else.

You learn a lot under stress, especially under its resolution. Not really that good, considering my innate ability to find new ways to procrastinate, especially with 20+ page papers to play with. :(

You’d think that as a graduate student, I’d have organization down…oh no….it’s been with me all my life, and it’ll be with me forever, methinks. Just gotta take it one day at a time. Then again, considering that I know people who have literally written entire papers before a conference, I’m not that bad.

That being said, I’m seeking out organizational tips to help me with these damn papers. I was looking into one particular idea by Study Hacks on Organizing large projects called the ESS Method. Cal Newport writes:

What’s interesting about the ESS method, and why, I think, I see variations of it pop up again and again among high scoring students, is that the arbitrary deadline trick actually works. Even though you know you made it up, we’re wired to respond to the pressure of deadlines, and this spurs you to accomplish that next manageable chunk.

I have another interesting idea later that’s entirely my own (or at least I didn’t get it from another blog,) but I’ll bring that up in another blog entry.
