So it seems that there’s word that Steve Jobs has pulled another one of his Deus Ex Macintoshes, and has announced a new design for the incredible (NOT) edible iPod….basically, now it looks like the iPhone, with all rights and privledges…save that it can’t make calls.
I still don’t know much about this new development, but from what I can tell, this iPod Touch is a stripped down version of the iPhone. It offers WiFi, but no bluetooth (A gripe) but has a calender, contacts, and a few other things.
As good as it is, though, these are my gripes about it:
- It’s $399 for 16 GB…wasn’t the iPhone reduced to that price? Why not just get the damn iPhone then?
- Only 16 GB? What gives?
- No Bluetooth
- From what I can tell, no Todo list (All PDAs need a todo list, whether you follow GTD or not)
- No notes/memos section
- STILL NO SDK!!!!!
Yes, Yes, this iPod Touch is only meant to be an MP3 Player, but Apple can’t make the same mistake that Sony did with their PSP…it has the potential to be much more then Apple makes it…but since Apple wants all the control, only it will be able to shape its future…Hey Apple, remember Betamax? No? Maybe because VHS sold their info to others while Betamax kept its mouth shut, and subsequently died.
Give Mac to other companies, Apple! OSX Deserves better then to be shut in an sleek silver cage! Besides, someone’s gonna need to fill the PDA market when Palm dies….
