Icame, Isaw, Ipanicked – The obligatory iPhone entry
So, here we are, after so many years of waiting: Steve Jobs is about to debut the latest thing to come out of his ass: The iPhone! Today is the day that the iPhone officially makes its debut to the public, and the blogosphere will cease from the typical opinion blabbing, productivity pondering, GTD-worshipping we’ve all come to expect, and transform into iPhone iManiacs. As Nataly of Work it, Mom! writes:
There isn’t a news outlet/blog/website that I’ve turned to during the past few weeks where this was not been THE tech story. It’s amazing, it’s cool, is fresh, and signature Apple. It’s THE gadget to have. All my friends want one….
I imagine every one of the AT&T shops being flooded with customers right now, like back in the Tickle Me Elmo days, or the Vista openings, or any other shindig like that. Apparently, even the mayor of Philadelphia is grabbing himself one of these. There’s gonna be iPanic in the streets, and people are gonna iRiot, I guarantee.
And honestly, I don’t trust the look of the iPhone. Sorry, but I prefer my keypad to be REAL. And from what I’ve heard, people don’t like using two thumbs to text message people using it. Also, it seems that there might be a chance that the iPhone won’t work at all once AT&T’s network upgrade rolls around. Yes, it talks pretty, but I wouldn’t hold that thing to my ear.
That being said, I believe the iPhone would make an awesome PDA. Seriously, if a PDA version of the iPhone was made, I would buy it! So much better then lousy Palm shit. Most of the stuff that’s on the iPhone would make it totally awesome, and definitely would beat my TX any day of the week. Sadly, the fact that Apple isn’t fond of opening up to third-parties may just keep me from getting one period.
What? You don’t have the money to afford an iPhone? And you don’t want to sell your soul to Cingular AT&T for two years to get a discount? Not a problem! Apple iPhone Reviews (found via I connect Dots) offers cheap iPhone knock-offs for you to grab. Most of these actually look pretty good, so give them a look.
As I searched on Technorati for blogs to cite for this rant, not failing to notice the massive ad for a Microsoft Zune in the corner of the page, I found an article by Flex RIA that basically will sum up this rant:
Barely anyone has an iPhone in hands but the web flood with iPhone information. I just wish this week ends quickly and you boys go play the little toy and be quite for awhile.
Well, that’s it. So, are you going to get an iPhone…or are you already in line reading this?
