The most important tool that I carry with me at all times is none other then my trusty USB Drive. How important is it to me? Well, at graduation, alongside my honor chords, pride sash and other things, my USB Drive holder took center place.

Why is it so important to me? Well, as a blogger and student, I find it neccesary to carry with me the drive, because of all the programs I can use on the drive, from Firefox to Thunderbird. Why would you want this instead of a laptop? Well, as Lorelle VanFossen writes about her travels on The Blog Herald:

I travel a lot. Not as much as some, but more than most. Usually I have my laptop with me, but occasionally, I’m caught off guard and have to stay somewhere without access to the tools I have become dependent upon for my business and my blogging. Three times this winter I was caught off guard in a snow storm or flood and was separated from my laptop.

With only a 512 MB USB Stick, you could have an entire suite of tools available to you. OpenOffice, Portable Firefox, just about anything. One good place to start is with John T Haller’s Portable Apps Website, which has a program that allows you to download one program to get all of the programs he offers on a USB Drive.

Even my Windows Live Writer blogging program can be done in USB. Honestly, other markets are missing out! Make programs workable on both PCs and USB Drives!
