So for some odd reason, we get WGN on channel 25 on our cable. WGN is a news station…in Chicago.

As we went on with the broadcast, Chicago reports about how a representative from Congress died….who served Southern California! Something I doubt our news would cover…

I’ve never seen any news station in Los Angeles cover anything so mundane about things outside the city. It made me think that Chicago seems a bit more interested in the outside world then L.A. Maybe that’s why they got the U.S Bid over L.A…We’re so full of ourselves we care about nothing else. Just look at Good Day L.A.

This isn’t a new thing I noticed. When the Olympic bid was announced, Chicago had beaten L.A for the bid. Being curious, I decided I’d do a cross-comparison of the L.A Times versus the Chicago Tribune. The result was incredibly weird. Most of the Tribune article seemed glad that Chicago had gotten the bid, and only mentioned L.A as someone who missed the bid. The L.A Times, however, spent half the article basically throwing a tantrum about how Chicago isn’t “International” like Los Angeles, or “World-known” like Los Angeles, among other things.

I’m an Angeleno, born and raised, but my mom hails from Chi-Town, and she herself said that most of the people there are far less arrogant then those in Los Angeles. Just an observation.
